Residents at Lake View enjoyed a colourful craft session after visiting the Netherlands as part of their Echo world tour.
Inspired by the country’s beautiful scenery and, in particular, the stunning fields of tulips, residents decided to create their own tulip vase using recycled materials. The activity brought together painting, sticking and plenty of conversation, making it a relaxed and engaging way to continue their journey around the world from the comfort of the home.
The photographs show residents fully involved in the creative process, with several painting sections of egg boxes in soft shades including pale yellow, pale pink and lilac to form the tulip shapes. Another resident was pictured smiling as she painted cardboard discs orange, while another carefully glued blue tissue paper to a cardboard tube. One image also shows two residents sitting side by side as they painted together, capturing the shared enjoyment of the session.
Creative activities like this can support wellbeing in many ways, encouraging focus, self-expression and social interaction. Using recycled materials also added an extra element of resourcefulness, showing how everyday items can be transformed into something bright and cheerful.
At Lake View, the Netherlands proved to be a popular stop on the Echo world tour, and the residents’ handmade tulip vase was a lovely way to bring a little Dutch inspiration into the home.
