Our Approach

We make sure all the people who live with us receive the highest quality of care, and experience the best life possible.

We make sure all the people who live with us receive the highest quality of care, and experience the best life possible.

At South West Care Homes we believe in the importance of choice. It is our choices that define who we are. It is by making choices in our lives, by controlling our own destiny, that we are independent, that we have self-respect. Choices can be big, or they can be small

Our philosophy is to encourage and support our residents in making choices, in being independent. Making the decision to move into one of our homes does not mean giving up independence. In our homes we create a relaxed and happy atmosphere. We understand that people value their privacy and independence, yet appreciate the benefits of companionship and the reassurance that help is on hand if needed

Our residents can all enjoy the confidence that, should the need arise, we are at their service, but we strive to support and encourage their ability to choose and so to maintain independence and experience the best life possible.

We work very hard to develop and maintain open and transparent relationships with Local Authorities and Commissioners, GP’s and local Surgeries, District Nurses, and the Care Quality Commission so that people living with us get the best possible care and support.

Unobtrusive, relaxed, safety and security
Our aim is to provide as relaxed an environment as possible, keeping our rules and regulations to a minimum, while ensuring our homes are safe and secure.

We are registered to provide residential care to people, including those who are living with Dementias either permanently or for shorter periods of respite.

Residential Care

We offer a warm, safe and friendly environment, where people can maintain their independence if they wish, but have access to support in all areas when they need it.

Privacy, dignity and choice are high on our priority list, and personal care is tailored to meet each resident’s individual needs, and to address their specific risks.

Dementia Care

We recognise that living with dementia can be difficult for loved ones as well as the individual. The natural decline in physical ability and cognition can mean that a person can no longer live independently. Moving into a care home, when its no longer safe to live at home, can be the right choice. If you have been helping someone living with dementia, or are a carer or living with dementia yourself, we know this can be a hard decision to make.

As dementia specialist homes, we offer homely environments and comfortable living spaces where people can build relationships and spend time with recognisable faces. To further create a sense of familiarity, we encourage personal belongings to be brought into each resident’s bedroom. We don’t have visiting hours, and you will be welcome to come and spend time with your loved one at any reasonable time.

We carry out complete pre-admission assessments to ensure we can fully meet the needs of the person. Our staff are trained in looking after people who are living with dementia and fully understand the right way to help people to live the best and most independent life they can.

Respite Care

Our respite care service allows primary carers, family members or friends to take time away from their everyday care duties to relax, go on holiday or just have a few hours break.

We understand that being a regular carer for a loved one can make it difficult to arrange some respite for yourself and you may feel apprehensive about going away. We provide a high quality respite service, that assures you the peace of mind to enjoy yourself, knowing that your loved one will continue to receive the care and support they need.

We will work around whatever period of respite you need e.g. a week a month or a couple of months, etc. We’ll work around your and your dependents requirements.

End of Life Care

We provide palliative care for both new and existing residents. We strive to make life as pleasant as possible for all of our residents, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

We ensure our residents are comfortable and cared for so that they can enjoy their time with us and more importantly the precious company of their loved ones. We do everything that we can to ensure dignity and respect throughout.

“I would like to thank you personally for the most professional and caring way in which you have interacted with me and family for my Dad.  Your flexibility and caring attitude over the last week have eased the pain of losing Dad earlier this morning and you and your team could have done no more to help my Mother, in particular at this time” Son of resident.
