Residents at Lake View marked St George’s Day with a thoughtful and engaging activity session that combined history, creativity and a bit of friendly quiz fun.
Using Our Echo, residents spent time looking back at the origins of St George and learning more about the history and traditions linked to the day. This gave everyone the chance to explore the meaning behind the occasion and enjoy some interesting discussion along the way.
The session then moved into a variety of themed activities. Residents completed St George’s Day word searches, decorated their own shields, and took part in a quiz on the topic. The photographs capture these activities nicely, including one resident carefully colouring a shield with St George’s Day motifs, two residents working together on a themed word search, and a finished shield brightly coloured with felt-tip pens.
Activities like these can support wellbeing in several ways, encouraging concentration, conversation and creativity while also helping residents stay connected with seasonal events and shared cultural traditions. Combining learning with practical tasks offers a relaxed and enjoyable way for residents to take part at their own pace.
At Lake View, the St George’s Day session was a lovely mix of reflection and fun, giving residents the opportunity to learn something new, share ideas and enjoy creating their own colourful keepsakes.
