It was full-on competition time at The Firs this morning as residents took part in a lively game of quoits, all aiming for the highest score.

There was a great sense of focus and fun as each player took their turn, carefully throwing the rope rings onto the wooden pegs. The photographs capture the concentration of the game perfectly, with Marcia, Maurice and Barbara all pictured having a go, while another image shows Shirley taking her turn with Chris watching on.

A little healthy competition always adds to the enjoyment, and this session certainly brought out everyone’s determination. The top scorers of the morning were Marcia with 160, Chrissie with 140 and David with 110, closely followed by Jane, Maurice, Shirley and Barbara. It was lovely to see so many residents getting involved and cheering each other on.

Activities like quoits can be a great way to support wellbeing in a relaxed and sociable setting. As well as encouraging movement and hand-eye coordination, they can help with concentration, confidence and friendly interaction between residents. Just as importantly, they bring plenty of laughter and conversation along the way.

At The Firs, this morning’s game combined skill, good humour and a touch of competitive spirit, making it an enjoyable activity for everyone who took part.
