Residents at The Firs enjoyed a relaxed and creative Thursday afternoon arts and crafts session in the home’s sunny conservatory.
Chris and Horace spent the afternoon painting and making the most of the bright, peaceful setting. The session gave both residents the chance to express themselves creatively while enjoying some calm, focused time together. One photograph shows Horace painting a scene of green hills and fields, while another captures Chris using watercolours to create a colourful parrot.
Horace’s painting was especially personal, as the Devon landscape reminded him of the fields around Morchard Bishop. Moments like this can make creative activities particularly meaningful, helping residents connect with familiar places, memories and experiences through art.
Arts and crafts can support wellbeing in many ways, offering opportunities for concentration, self-expression and conversation in a relaxed setting. They can also be a gentle way to encourage reminiscence, as colours, scenes and subjects often spark personal memories and stories.
At The Firs, this sunny afternoon in the conservatory was a lovely example of how simple creative sessions can be both enjoyable and meaningful. With paintbrushes in hand and plenty of imagination, Chris and Horace created artwork full of character and personal connection.
