- Reducing our fossil fuels consumption by reviewing heating use and investigating insulation in our homes.

Growing a Greener Future: Our Green Agenda in Action
From garden-grown fruit turned into homemade jam, to raised beds full of herbs and vegetables, and the introduction of electric maintenance vehicles, sustainability is becoming part of everyday life at South West Care Homes. Our green agenda is about practical action, reducing food miles, supporting wildlife, and making thoughtful choices that benefit both people and the planet.
From Garden to Plate
Across South West Care Homes, residents and teams are getting hands-on in the garden, growing everything from fresh herbs to seasonal vegetables, and even exploring the idea of keeping bees for honey. It’s a simple, feel-good way to reduce food miles, boost wellbeing, and bring our green agenda to life as we work towards a more sustainable future.
Garden Make Overs!
Working with the Devon Wildlife Trust “Wildlife Friendly Garden” scheme, South West Care Homes are making simple, creative changes to support nature.
Sun-Powered Care: Solar Panels Begin Rolling Out Across Our Homes
South West Care Homes is starting to roll out solar panels at locations where they’ll make the biggest impact. Not every home is suitable, but where the roof space and orientation are right, we’ve installed panels, tested performance, and in one home have already replaced gas ovens with electric. We’ll keep monitoring results and expand the programme wherever it’s practical and beneficial.
Environment and Sustainability
At South West Care Homes, we approach everything we do with care and a commitment to quality.
Any impact on the environment we may make is no exception.
