Duck has half hatched we can see a leg and wet feathers

There was plenty of excitement at Cambrian Lodge on day two of the duck watch, as residents noticed the first signs that hatching had begun.

After patiently watching and waiting, a couple of cracks appeared in three of the eggs, quickly drawing lots of attention from residents, who were eager to see what would happen next. Close-up images from the incubator show the tiny cracks developing, including one egg with a small hole beginning to appear.

The anticipation soon turned into delight, as two ducklings hatched overnight. One photo captures a particularly special moment, showing a duckling halfway out of its shell, with a little leg visible and wet feathers just beginning to emerge. A video also shows one of the ducklings cleaning its feathers, offering residents a lovely chance to watch these early moments up close.

The duck watch has created a real sense of shared interest around the home, with residents following each stage closely and enjoying the opportunity to observe something new together. Activities like this can encourage curiosity, conversation and gentle excitement, while also bringing people together around a common focus.

Everyone at Cambrian Lodge will now be watching closely to see what happens next, with lots of interest in the remaining eggs and the newest ducklings already attracting plenty of attention.
