Residents at Ashley House have been getting into the Easter spirit by designing and creating their own colourful Easter baskets.

Using a variety of materials, colours and decorations, residents spent time carefully putting their baskets together and adding their own personal touches. The photos show Herta filling her pale pink basket with yellow paper straw and adding eggs, fluffy rabbits and chicks to complete the display. Another image captures residents wrapping basket handles with bright pipe cleaners and Easter decorations, while Maggie is pictured decorating her basket with yellow paper flowers. Barb’s finished basket looked especially cheerful, decorated with pipe cleaners, Easter bunnies and green paper straw.

As well as being a lovely seasonal craft activity, creating the baskets offered important wellbeing benefits. Filling them with traditional Easter items such as straw, eggs and fluffy chicks can help to trigger memories, stimulate the senses and support motor skills through gentle hands-on activity. It also gave residents the opportunity to express their creativity and enjoy a calm, social time together.

The finished baskets looked wonderful, full of colour and character, and made a lovely Easter display around the home. It was a thoughtful and enjoyable activity that combined creativity, conversation and seasonal fun in a meaningful way.
