Residents at Ashfield enjoyed a calm and sociable afternoon together as they settled in to watch Move Over, Darling, starring Doris Day.
The film provided the perfect focus for a gentle session of entertainment and reminiscence, with Doris Day’s music and screen presence prompting plenty of conversation. The song “Move Over Darling”, which was recorded for the film of the same name, reached the top ten in 1964 and added an extra point of interest to the afternoon. Photographs from the session show residents comfortably seated in armchairs watching the film, while other images capture them chatting together and enjoying each other’s company.
As well as offering a chance to relax, the afternoon inspired lots of reminiscing. Familiar songs, well-loved stars and memories from the era helped residents share stories and build friendships.
