There was a lovely sense of excitement at Cambrian Lodge on Day 6 of the egg hatching experience, as residents reached a special milestone, the first cuddle with one of the ducklings.
The session gave residents the chance to see how the ducklings responded to gentle human contact, adding a new stage to the hatching journey that everyone has been following so closely. As shown in the photographs, the ducklings were calm in their cage, gathering around their drinker and exploring their surroundings, before one enjoyed a quiet cuddle while sitting on a resident’s lap on a pink fluffy pillow.
These close-up interactions can be especially meaningful, offering a soothing sensory experience and a chance to connect with the animals in a calm and careful way. Watching the ducklings grow day by day has already brought plenty of interest, and this first hands-on moment added another layer of engagement for residents.
The images capture both the ducklings’ progress and the gentle nature of the experience, from the small group gathered in the cage to the close-up of a duckling being held comfortably and securely. Moments like these can support wellbeing by encouraging curiosity, conversation and emotional connection, while also giving residents something new and uplifting to enjoy together.
At Cambrian Lodge, Day 6 was a simple but special step in the egg hatching experience, and one that was clearly enjoyed by everyone involved.
