Yesterday at Ashley House, we marked Elton John’s birthday with a relaxed and cheerful day centred on music, memories, and a bit of creativity.
Residents enjoyed listening to a selection of Elton’s songs and singing along together, creating a warm atmosphere in the home. The music brought plenty of smiles and conversation, with everyone joining in at their own pace.
To keep the celebration going, we used the Our Echo activity platform to complete Elton John-themed word searches and spend time colouring in pictures of Elton himself. It was a lovely way to combine mental stimulation with a calm, enjoyable activity and the finished artwork was something residents could feel genuinely proud of.
The photos capture some wonderful moments from the day: Wendy carefully colouring an Elton picture, Barb and Maggie enjoying their colouring and word search together, a close-up of Wendy’s completed colouring, and a very proud Herta holding up her finished picture.
Activities like these help support wellbeing, engagement, and connection, bringing residents together through shared interests while also offering space for quiet focus and creativity.
