There was a lovely sense of progress at Ashfield recently as the home’s garden project got underway with support from Lisa, Tesco Community Champion.
Lisa kindly gave up her time to help prepare the garden for residents and families to enjoy, as well as donating soil and a beautiful selection of plants to help get the project started. Her support has already made a wonderful difference, and everyone at Ashfield is very grateful for her generosity and enthusiasm.
The photographs show Lisa and a member of staff smiling together while holding some of the new plants, as well as discussing where they might go in the garden. Other images capture the newly planted raised beds, complete with colourful shrubs and a few charming ornaments, including a garden gnome and a pink flamingo. There are also lovely views across the garden itself, with benches and planted beds beginning to shape a welcoming outdoor space, alongside some cheerful animal ornaments tucked away in the shrubs.
Although some of Ashfield’s keen resident gardeners were put off by the rain on this occasion, there is plenty more to look forward to. The home is excited to continue developing the space with a vegetable patch, herb garden and bug hotel on drier days, with residents involved along the way.
Creating and caring for a garden can offer so many benefits, from fresh air and gentle activity to a shared sense of purpose. Ashfield is looking forward to watching the garden grow into a colourful and enjoyable space for everyone.
