Residents at Ashley House enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of reminiscing with Jan during a visit titled A Spoonful of Sugar, with the session centred around doctors, nurses and vets from years gone by.
The afternoon sparked plenty of conversation as residents talked about old-fashioned remedies, shared memories of St John Ambulance, and explored some of the equipment once used by vets many years ago. It was a fascinating look back at how care and treatment have changed over time, while also bringing back plenty of personal memories and stories.
There was also a wonderful sense of fun to the session, with dressing up helping to bring the theme to life. At one point, things really did reach a new level as residents played doctors and nurses, with plenty of smiles as everyone embraced the spirit of the afternoon.
One particularly eye-catching moment saw a young male carer studying a historic veterinary syringe rather intently, while residents looked on with what could only be described as a healthy degree of concern. Thankfully, it was all part of the fun and added even more laughter to an already memorable visit.
The themed session was a lovely mix of reminiscence, conversation and humour, making it a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.
A big thank you to Jan for another engaging and imaginative visit, and to the team for helping bring the afternoon to life in such a fun and memorable way.
