Residents at Lake View enjoyed a lovely uplifting afternoon when Bing the accordionist came in to perform a selection of nostalgic songs.

The music quickly created a warm and cheerful atmosphere, with plenty of residents joining in with the singing and clearly enjoying the familiar tunes. Live music sessions like this can be especially meaningful, helping to spark memories, encourage conversation and bring people together through shared enjoyment.

There was also no shortage of movement, with some residents even getting up on their feet to dance. One photograph shows Gill enjoying a dance, while another captures Anne dancing with support from a carer. Other images show residents gathered around Bing as he played his accordion, with lots of smiles across the room and a real sense of togetherness.

The visit offered more than entertainment alone. Music can be wonderfully powerful in supporting wellbeing, lifting mood and encouraging engagement in a natural and enjoyable way. Singing along, tapping to the rhythm or having a dance can all help residents feel involved and energised, whatever their level of participation.

At Lake View, Bing’s visit brought a happy mix of music, movement and reminiscence, making for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.
