Sandra adding water to her pastel drawing with a brush

Residents at The Manor House often enjoy opportunities to explore creativity, and one recent one-to-one drawing session proved especially rewarding for Sandra.

During a relaxed afternoon, Sandra spent time trying chalk pastels for the very first time. With gentle support and space to work at her own pace, she quickly showed an impressive natural flair for drawing. The session gave her the chance to focus, experiment with a new art material and enjoy some calm creative time.

The photograph from the afternoon shows Sandra carefully adding water to her pastel drawing with a brush, highlighting the thoughtful and hands-on nature of the activity. It was lovely to see her so engaged in the process and confidently exploring a technique that was completely new to her.

One-to-one sessions like this can be particularly meaningful, as they allow activities to be shaped around the individual’s interests, pace and preferences. Creative activities can support wellbeing by encouraging concentration, self-expression and a sense of achievement, while also offering a peaceful and enjoyable way to spend time.

At The Manor House, it was a lovely afternoon and a wonderful reminder that new talents can still be discovered and enjoyed at any stage of life.
