Residents at The Firs marked World Art Day with a relaxed and enjoyable creative session, combining colouring, conversation and a chance to learn something new.

As part of the activity, residents spent time colouring beautiful butterfly pictures from Our Echo, using colour pencils to bring each design to life. The session offered a calm and creative space for residents to take their time, focus on the details and express themselves through colour. Photos from the day show residents carefully working on their butterfly pictures, including one resident adding purple pencil to her design and another image of residents seated together, enjoying the activity side by side.

Alongside the colouring, residents also explored different artists and artistic styles, which led into a quiz that got everyone chatting, laughing and sharing their thoughts. This helped turn the session into more than just an art activity, creating opportunities for conversation, reminiscence and social connection as well.

Creative sessions like this can support wellbeing in a number of ways. They encourage relaxation, concentration and self-expression, while the shared learning and quiz element added stimulation and fun. It was a lovely way to celebrate World Art Day at The Firs, with residents enjoying both the quiet creativity of colouring and the lively conversation that followed.
